The Antquarium uses Space - Gel co-developed with NASA and used on the Space Shuttle Mission. Space -Gel is perfectly balanced for ant's nutritional needs and the perspex container provides a harmless viewing chamber and temporary home as the ants burrow and go out about their business. The Natural History Museum advises that ants are caught and housed in the Antquarium for up to 14 days and then released.
